Promoting and supporting local youth activities and sports though fundraising and volunteering
The Millersville Recreation Association is committed to supporting and promoting local youth activities. Through volunteer hours the members of the association maintain and support activities at Riverside Park. The main fundraiser of the association is Bossy Bingo. The money raised is used to support girl’s softball, the association’s college scholarship, and other youth activities throughout the year.
In 1937, when August Knoeners built their house south of the village (now the Nelson Kuhn home) and drilled a well, they found it to be an artesian or over flowing one. Now what to do with the extra water? This was discussed by a group of men at the store one evening. They got the idea of making a pool for bathing and swimming.
A meeting was called for all local men who were interested, to gather at the Village Hall (at that time the upper story of the cheese factory). A Charter of the Recreation Association was issued by the Department of State of Wisconsin on January 11, 1938.
